Extension Spindles

We make our Spindles in Solid Mild Steel up to 2.5m in length. After 2.5m we offer them in 2 or more sections connected via Flanges and Bolts.

 

All spindles are supplied with a standard 35mm male spigot designed to fit a standard valve key. The base of the spindle has a cast steel 35mm socket fitted with a pinch bolt which is used to secure the base to the false top of the hydrant valve. Valve extension spindles can also be supplied with a 42mm socket or a 48/50mm socket for use on larger valves.

 

Smaller male spigots and female sockets in 28mm are also available.

 

For our Sockets we recommend 35mm for use on Gate/Sluice Valves up to 300mm and 48mm Sockets for Gate/Sluice Valves over 300mm.

 

Please Note: All spindle extension sizes refer to the overall length. It should remembered that approximately 1 ½” is lost from the overall height when fitted to the hydrant valve due to the base of the spindle fitting over the valve false top.

 

When considering the lift then approximately 3” should be subtracted from the overall length of the spindle extension. This would take into account the combined amount lost when you consider that approximately 1 ½” is lost when fitting the spindle onto the valve and a further 1 ½” is lost when fitting the valve key to the spindle.

 

Our products are supplied Epoxy coated in Gloss Sapphire blue Ral5003.
